    Engine Test Stands

    Engine Custom designed and manufactured test stands and test cells
    used for emissions testing, fuel, liquid and gaseous, coolants, exhaust,
    combustion and other custom projects and all related components.

    Diesel and Gas Engine Sensors

    Engine sensors designed to withstand shock, vibration, high
    temperature and contamination typically found in and around diesel and
    gas engines.  All sensors are custom engineered for the OEM's specific
    application requirements.  When required, Watlow can design and
    manufacture sensors compliant to the QS9000 Pre-Production Approval
    Processes (PPAPs) including design & process Failure Mode Effect
    Analyses (FMEAs), control plans, capability studies, first article
    inspections, etc.

    Engine Heaters & Systems

    Diesel Engine Heaters can be found in a variety of applications such as:
  • Engine coolant preheaters on stand-by and primary power engine
    gen-sets
  • Circulating coolant heater systems can be found on U.S. Coast
    Guard cutters
  • Immersion and circulation-style engine oil heaters are found on
    mechanical drive engine applications such as compressors,
    irrigation pumps and fire pumps.

    Engine Preheaters

    Designed to withstand environmental extremes ranging from hot engine
    temperatures to frigid conditions to shock and vibration associated with
    today's engine generator sets.  Constructed of heavy gauge steel, with
    hermetically sealed joints to eliminate leaks commonly associated with
    preheaters using O-ring seals.

    Fuel Cell Thermal Technology

    Fuel cell developers, manufacturers and application developers are on
    a quest to optimize fuel cell cost and performance characteristics.  
    These heaters, temperature sensors and temperature controllers help
    reduce costs and increase performance of fuel cells and plant systems.  
    Thermal products are used primarily in the following areas:
  • Fuel cell moisture management
  • Fuel cell temperature management
  • Ancillary systems temperature management

    Control Consoles

    The standard control consoles are available in one, two or four control
    loop configurations.  Each unit is supplied with a heavy-duty fused line
    cord, fused output receptacle, a sold state relay and ON/OFF rocker
    switch.  The powder-coated metal case has vent openings on the top
    and bottom for heat dissipation, keeping internal case temperatures
    lower.  Some models offer serial communication options.

    SCR Power Controllers

    Minimizing temperature extremes results in less expansion and
    contraction of the heater element and extends heater life.  An SCR power
    controller with burst firing capability and operating on a variable time
    base of less than one second effectively eliminates temperature
    excursion.  
  • SCRs cycling at less than one second stabilize element temperature
    and increase heater life
  • SCRs improve heater life regardless of watt density
  • The SCR power controller is solid-state -- with no inherent wear-out
    modes and no moving parts to replace

    Flexible Heated Mats

    A safe, low watt density heating element into a thermoplastic elastomer
    mat.  Designed for use in classified locations where explosive vapor
    conditions could exist in the event of abnormal operation, accident or
    component failure.  
  • Thermopolymer heated mats are free from seams and joints
  • Safe for use in classified and outdoor environments
  • Hermetically sealed against liquids and explosive vapors
  • Excellent resistance to UV, non-aromatic fuels, abrasion and tearing

    Resistance Temperature Sensing

    A complete line of RTDs for a wide variety of process and industrial
    applications.  These sensors have been designed to ensure precise and
    repeatable measurements as well as meet the environmental
    requirements for the application.  
  • RTD sensors may be configured to meet your specific application
  • Strain-free construction provides highly-repeatable, long-term,
    accurate readings
  • Allows elements from different lots to be substituted without
    recalibration
  • High signal-to-noise output increases accuracy of data transmission
  • Linear change in resistance per degree change in temperature
  • Wide temperature operating range from -200 to 650C.
